This is an adventure for people of all ages and interests, and is certainly one of the highlights of Costa Rica. Canopy Safari provides tourists a unique activity and ecological experience, and almost anyone of any age can participate!  Young children can be carried by the guides. This tour offers an adventurous tourist the opportunity to ascend into the forest canopy and see jungle life from a perspective available previously to only a select few researchers and photographers.

Now featuring: 18 platforms, 10 zip lines, 2 repel lines, one suspension bridge, and one "Tarzan swing", butterfly farm and serpentarium!!!

Our company objective is to provide tourists a unique activity and ecological experience while at the same time helping to aid in the preservation of the world's endangered rainforest through direct financial support to conservation, education, and reforestation efforts. The canopy course is constructed so that there is very little impact on the sensitive ecological balance that exists in the rainforest. Our platforms, pulleys and cables are made of non-corrosive steel. Here at Canopy Safari safety is our top priority. We perform safety checks daily on all equipment including anchors, cables, and connections. Our harnesses, carabineers, and other equipment pass all standards set by the international association the ACCT, and approved by ICT (Costa Rican Tourist Board).

Tour 2 : Rain Maker
Conservation Project

  • bridge and riverside trail access $70
  • Deposit: $20
  • Departure : Flexible
  • Duration : 4 Hours

The Rain Maker Conservation Project covers a surface area of approximately 1,350 acres, of which 80% is primary forest. There is a transitional neotropical jungle ranging from a humid rain forest to a misty cloud forest at its higher elevations, all dedicated to conservation. Rain Maker's sole use is sustainable development, which serves as a means for financing the protection of the forest, creating local employment and education programs, and studying the flora and fauna for scientific research. Less than 5% of Rain Maker is used for tourist activities. In a one-mile trail and bridge system a limited number of guided tours assures a minimum impact on the environment. A few trails, hand railings, bridges and lookout points have been created for the safety, comfort and enjoyment of visitors. Elsewhere, the jungle terrain remains just as nature intended.

Rainmaker Private Nature Reserve

A system of trails following the contours of the Río Seco river corridor are intersected by wooden bridges that allow you to traverse the jungle and enjoy an excellent view of the natural scenery with moderate effort. From the trails you may find colorful dart frogs (dendrobates auratus), interesting butterflies (morpho amotonte and others), the lizard that walks on water (baciliscus), and colorful birds such as toucans and trogons.

A system of bridges suspended from tree branches meets U.S. codes for bridge engineering. The height of these bridges extends from 30 to 180 feet (22 stories high), with a total expansion of 820 feet, distributed between six bridges; the longest section over 300 feet. In addition, the system has seven platforms positioned all at the same level for easy access. The first platform starts at ground level, and as the slope drops, the bridge becomes higher, giving the visitor the opportunity to observe an incredible variety of flora and fauna within the canopy ecosystem. A variety of cascades and waterfalls, one of which is utilized as a natural swimming pool, affords visitors the opportunity to swim in crystal clear waters under a cascading waterfall.

Quepos is among the world's top destinations for sportfishing. If you believe the surrounding beauty of the Manuel Antonio National Park and the offshore islands are overwhelming, just imagine how you will feel catching a giant blue marlin! Quepos sportfishing prices are quite reasonable, and depend on how many people are in your group, where you go, the quality and size of the sportfishing boat, the equipment, the expertise of the crew, and the season. Quepos fishing captains usually consider a half-day of fishing to be about 4 hours on the water, and a full-day of fishing is about 8 hours on the water.

On the morning of a typical trip, the captain will send a driver to your hotel or local breakfast eatery to pick you up and take you to the Quepos main pier. All of the captains in the Quepos fleet provide food and beverages onboard, so you only need a few personal items like sunglasses, sunscreen and your lucky fishing hat. After being whisked to your boat aboard a dinghy, your captain will take you offshore for marlin and sailfish, or inshore for roosterfish, dorado and snook. Whichever trip you choose, We work with the highest quality operators in the Quepos and Manuel Antonio area to ensure an exhilirating, once-in-a-lifetime experience for the best possible value.

    Costa Rica Sportfishing Seasons

Marlin has its top month in October, but it's also good in September and November; occasional blues and rare blacks are likely to be found any time of the year.

Sailfish are best from the middle of December to the end of April when they begin moving north, but the big schools move in October. A few sails always show from June through September.

Tuna are easily found throughout the year along the Pacific coast, but are more abundant from June to September. Most are 8 to 12 pounders but you can make catches in the 100 to 200 pound range as well.

Dorado begins with the winter rains late in May that wash debris from the river mouths creating the inshore trash lines that dolphins favor.

Roosterfish are better in the mouths of the Parrita and Palo Seco, outside Damas, the mouth outside Damas, around Dominical and Drake's Bay. Best fishing is from June through early September.

Snook are found in many river mouths along the coast, like the Sierpe River and lagoon. Best months are from July through November during the rainy season.
